Privacy

The game offers a local game against a bot and an online game with another person. You can use an account for this game or a guest session online. A game account does not require a Sites or ChatGPT account or sign-in; a private hosting preview may separately require a platform sign-in.

Local games against the bot

The bot calculates moves on your device. Local games, move history and preferences such as your side, bot difficulty and theme are saved in your browser’s localStorage under the key zmaj-chess-v3. Local moves are not sent to the online game database. Clearing this website’s data in your browser settings deletes your locally saved game and preferences.

Board appearance, piece style and language are saved only in this browser. Live evaluation during bot games also runs on your device.

Accounts and guests

Accounts store a username, account identifier, creation time and protected password record. Passwords are not stored as readable text. Email is not requested and password recovery by email is unavailable.

Guests store their chosen name and guest identifier. Essential session cookies maintain account and guest sign-ins for up to 30 days. Page scripts cannot read these cookies directly. Signing out revokes current sessions; sign out after playing on a shared device.

To limit repeated sign-in attempts and guest session creation, the server temporarily stores cryptographic hashes of IP addresses and usernames. These records protect access and are not used for advertising.

Online games

The Cloudflare D1 database stores room codes, player identifiers and display names, room membership, board states, moves, results, and creation and update times. This supports move validation, synchronized boards and resumed games. Account holders can access their games after signing in on another device; guest access depends on the guest session.

Your display name and moves are visible to the other participant. Share invitations only with the person you want to play. This version has no automatic deletion of accounts or game records and no self-service account deletion in the interface. Signing out or clearing cookies and local storage does not delete online game records from the server.

Game analysis

Post-game move evaluation runs on your device. Online game review uses the move history stored on the server. Analysis results are not sent to an additional service or stored in your account.

Hosting and external services

The game has no built-in analytics or advertising. Images and game files are served from this website, and the interface uses fonts on your device. The hosting provider may separately process ordinary access data such as IP addresses, request times and requested files under its own policies and terms. This is separate from the account and game data stored by the game.
